Saturday Outing to the Hills

We've had a wonderful day. Collin's mom and dad wanted us to join them on an outing to have fish for lunch. We got an early start this morning and drove to Sylamore somewhere between Calico Rock and Batesville to eat fish at JoJo's Restaurant at Jack's Resort. You almost can't get there from here so I'm sure you know just where I'm talking about. This I can assure you: it's worth the drive and the search. We had fish, hush puppies, and baked potatoes along with brown beans and green tomato pickles. Um...um! JoJo's sits right on the White River and we had a window seat with a view. Although the river is not overly visible in this photo, the scenery was a gorgeous sight. Sneak a peak at our plates and drool. It was great.

After lunch, we continued on our journey to Mt. Home where we checked out White River-Bull Shoals State Park. The camping area is beautiful right on the river with all sorts of other amenities. Lots of people were on the river in boats fishing. We've decided that we've got to get a reservation and spend some time there in June. Last summer, we spent time at Norfork Lake, but this spot is beautiful and we want to try out something new. Enjoy the rest of the pictures of our family and the beauty of the park.

All Together Again

Our family shared some wonderful days last week. Micah got an unexpected spring break from school and came in from NOLA last Tuesday. She didn't have to return home until Sunday and we crammed everything we could into four days. I was able to take off from work on Thursday and Friday so that made it especially nice to get in some days to make the most of her visit. Thursday, we did some serious shopping at the mall and some other favorite stores. Thursday night was very special because it was the College of Agriculture Spring Awards Banquet and Micah was able to go along for a fabulous meal and watch her brother be recognized for several awards. Bryan was introduced for the scholarship he was presented last fall and also received a certificate for maintaining status on the Dean's List for the year. We're all very proud of him. We snapped a few photos after we got home.

Friday, we just chilled at home doing some of this and some of that. We had quite a bit of time for chatting and catching up. I had a wedding to shoot on Saturday, but when I got home, Micah, her dad, and I went into town for pizza and when we got back home, she and I watched two movies before bedtime. Bryan had gone away for the weekend as he had made previous plans.
All too soon, she was packed and headed home Sunday morning. It was a wonderful visit. It is so nice that sometimes life hands you an unexpected pleasure in the midst of "hurry-scurry." Just when I needed a lift and a fresh renewing of spirit, she was allowed to come home. It had been a long time since Christmas. Isn't God good to present us with little surprises from time to time?
